Newsgroups: alt.cult-movies.alien
It's been about a year since I posted anything here, so when this came to
my attention, I thought I'll revisit the 'ol newsgroup.
Has anyone read, or heard about, the new novel 'Aliens: Original Sin'?
"It also sorts out unanswered questions from the movies and raises entirely
new ones. Was it just coincidence that the Nostromo happened to pass by the
desolate planet? Why was the alien on the crashed ship in the first place?"
The story contains the Ripley-clone and Call from Alien:Resurection.
If it *can* answer the questions quoted above, will this newsgroup get any
quieter?
well, I've been taking a look at this book, and it seems to mix in
ideas vaguely rooted in conspiracy ideas related to the Greys in UFO
mythos and also the new form of reproduction in the W. Gibson ALien 3
script involving more than one chestburster bursting out of a host. The
author is also trying to describe a new type of alien as if there is
some difference in this certain breed, but other than a bigger than
normal head, I'm still trying to work it out, it might not be easy to
work it out without a picture anyway.
The author of the book, Jan Michael Friedman has made a career out of
writing Star Trek novels.
It might be an okay novel as an Alien Resurrection sequel if you liked
that film. I suppose it's interesting in that he's been trying to work
out a perspective on the Alien saga so far.
