dvd burning

I have been using a dvd burner successfully for a number of months now, all
of a sudden it will not accept the discs, either for burning or erasing.
It just keeps giving me the notice, 'please insert disc', I have tried
changing the burner, the discs and even done system restore to a much
earlier date but the problem persists.
Has anyone any ideas, bearing in mind that i am a relative NOVICE to
computing. Mike

Goto the manufactures website, download then reinstall the latest drivers.

Reinstalling the DVD Drive may help.

Uninstall it from the system, shut down your computer, reboot without
the drive hooked up and then reboot with it all hooked up.
Install the drivers fresh from the CD (not the ones Windows may find as
they could be the older ones) and then go to the manufacturers website
and get the new ones.
