"It's funny that our intentions to be true to the original artist
ended up being misunderstood by Giger himself as stealing his work."

*smirk* Aren't these guys like #3 and 4 on the man's shit list?
Hehehehe.

"Without sounding egotistic (...) we are considered by the crew and the
studio to be the experienced hands, the voice of all things Alien and
Predator"

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

one of these days, they might create something based on Giger's work
that Giger might actually like and be given credit for himself, and
that misunderstanding might be over. I'm sure that I'll be taking note
of their new aliens whether I like their work or not.

I think that Gillis and Woodruff ought to talk in detail about which of
Giger's work or even elements of his work have inspired their own Alien
work, which paintings, etcetera. There were some things that seem
recognisably lifted from Giger's work in Alien Resurrection that
certainly looked lifted from Giger's work that never got into previous
films and talk about that was never brought to the surface in any of
the interviews with Gillis and Woodruff. I don't know if there was a
problem about talking on this subject matter for them or maybe the
interviewers just didn't have a clue about how to present the topic in
discussion with them, but if let's say I were to interview them, it is
a topic I would bring up because of my knowledge of and interest within
Giger's work while hoping that they themselves had any direct
recollection of their inspirations from what seems now to be years ago.

Thanks for that interview.

I would imagine they'd have to disavow Fox's actions in the whole
matter, and I doubt that's gonna happen - I'm sure they like being
hire-able. :)

Somebody (at Fox) shoulda stepped up to the plate a long time ago on
this - this is the same sort of short-sightedness that's got the music
industry in trouble with rootkits, DRM and all that crap (looks like
there's going to be a blanket license for consumers within a couple of
years). They squabble over every last possible dime and end up screwing
themselves. Take, I think, Men In Black (I could be thinking of another
movie) - couldn't get financing? Hello? Sonnenfield sold the
international rights at Cannes to get the ball rolling. Movie grossed
nearly 400 mil overseas and the studio couldn't touch it. Dumb asses.
They sure SAVED a ton, though! Of course, they'll trip overthemselves
to finance somebody like Fincher....meh.

LOL, sorry 'bout the rant!

Thanks for doing the hard yards and continuing to make an effort to bring
something new to this tired old conversation topic.

Good work.

Thanks.
