Prometheus - sequel...

The film is far from eloquent in my opinion. I was totally immersed until the cute little snake thingie shoved itself down the guy's throat and then it got silly and then sillier. So many small but infuriating indiscretions that I was left feeling like Id wasted 2 hours of my life!! On a positive note, I have a theory! We know the ending of Prometheus implies a sequel, so here goes!
Dr. Elizabeth Shaw is about to embark on a quest to kick some Engineer's butt for being so dismissive with humanity. She goes to their planet, kicks proverbial butt and is left to pick up the pieces - by taking the remaining bio-hazard material (alien facehugger eggs) in a big ship to a little ol' planet called LV426 and sacrifices herself (yes, she IS the fossilised Space Jockey!!) - enter... The Nostromo being attracted by a "distress signal"...

My first bad feeling was when the scientists was introduced with this
stereotypical bad attitude towards the lead. Later, when said
scientists ripped off their helmets on an unknown planet and ranaround
without them I was really twisting in my chair.

Nooooo... She can't be the SJ, that would be just wrong. :)

My first bad feeling was when the scientists was introduced with this
stereotypical bad attitude towards the lead. Later, when said

For me it was mainly the continuity of certain things - I cant list them all but here are a few that spring to mind:

1) Engineers much smaller than our original SJ (even with their suits on);
2) Med lab not designed for women's anatomy (even if Vickers father favoured a son, it seems pretty damn irresponsible, immature and archaic to not assume females would be aboard the ship);
3) Murals - fantastic apparently but all we got were flashes of them - the audience would never have had time to interpret them;
4) Silly, irresponsible gits wandering all over an alien planet, touching things that could kill them (oops, things did kill them!);
5) Stupid mouth intrusions of alien snake thingies (reminded me too much of the ridiculous scene in AvP 2 - with the aliens "impregnating" pregnant women). With Ridley's calibre, I expected classier ideas and effects;
6) Weyland character - why use Guy Pearce? An aging actor would have sufficed surely? And the Weyland character - totally unnecessary:
7) Severed Engineer's exploding head - totally unnecessary;
8) Any silly gore - totally unnecessary

If Ridley felt that silly effects appeal to today's audience then he should have made a film that had absolutely NOTHING to do with the Alien universe. Most people went to cinema expecting that direct prequel - not a silly, inconsistent movie. He is on the bandwagon of putting out any ol' tripe so he can make another film (and even another film) - Ive heard there are going to be 2 after this one??!!!!

The only thing that excited me about "Prometheus" was that, Ridley MAY end up faithful to his fans and give us the story on how our SJ gets on LV246. (My bet is that it will be Dr. E. Shaw in an Engineer's suit!) <blink, blink>

If Scott is capable of giving us this lazy first sequence, wrong on many levels for me, then he is capable of making even more wrongs.

I kind of like the twist of Shaw being our SJ!! (Only because its MY theory, of course! lol).

Indeed, and doesn't even look the same! I wrote about this earlier,and
posted this pic:

With the red lines showing the differences. Also where you clearly see
that the length of the SJ's arm is longer than a human being.

Especially considering that this ship had a female on board. What the
heck? Bad planting, bad execution.

Yes, and they were supposedly "scientists". Maybe "action scientists"?

Just added more questions. What was they running from - why were they
running *into* the bio-weapon room? Was he "infected"? How does
"blowing up" become a factor of being infected?

Some more unanswered questions:

1. What was Davids ulterior motive? Was he acting on orders? Whose?

2. Stop running in a straight line from items that are falling in a
straight line!

3. Why did the "Engineer" in the beginning have to sacrifice himself
in order to impregnante the planet?

4. If the DNA of the Engineers and us is the same, why don't we look
the same?

5. Why would an Engineer that has been asleep for thousands of years
wake up and be incredibly violent? Bad morning temper?

6. Goo -> Worm -> Scientist = Monster
Goo -> Sex -> Pregnacy = Birth of facehugger
WTF? The life cycle of these things just got a lot more
complicated and inconsistent..

Again, simply down to lazy and silly directing and writing. Just an excuse to make a dollars. Box office didnt do too well either - dont think Ridley even broke even!!

I wonder why!!!!

Ridley did some lazy and silly things with the first "Prometheus" film - he will continue to do some lazy and silly things with P2 and P3.

But dont you think Elizabeth ties in nicely as our fossilised SJ on LV426 (if we forget the continuity blunders in P)??

No, I don't really see it. Sorry :)

If she and David is going to other systems, they are sure to meet more
engineers, which could be the one in the chair :)

Shaw is off to the engineer's home planet to find an explanation for their wish to destroy us (their creation). Im assuming, once she gets there, that there will be either an advanced bio-hazard creature they have created (our 'Alien') or the alien that springs out of the engineer at end of "Prometheus" hitches a ride with Shaw and David - and so the cycle begins?

Its all fragmented, as Ridley didnt stick to continuity and all we can do is surmise until we get the next 'P' instalment.
